Spray Valley/Peter Lougheed Provincial Parks Management Plan

Spray Valley and Peter Lougheed Provincial Parks are areas of magnificent beauty, both of which are valued for their wild character.  CPAWS has had a long-standing and profound interest in Kananaskis Country and we continue to monitor the finalization of a Management Plan for these areas.

The Draft Management Plan for Peter Lougheed/Spray Valley Provincial Parks was released in July of 2003.  Deadline for public input on the Management Plan was on September 30, 2003.  Two and a half years later, Albertans continue to wait for finalization of the Management Plan.

In response to the Draft Management Plan, CPAWS did find some commendable aspects, yet there is a continued effort to leave the door open to development in Kananaskis. We hope that the Management Plan will soon be finalized in a form which prohibits further development and protects the parks outstanding natural features.
