What is Environmental Education ?
Environmental Education (EE) involves students in activities that are designed to develop understanding, appreciation, and caring for the natural environment. By engaging in EE, CPAWS works toward creating a community of knowledgeable, empowered citizens who engage in stewardship and positive environmental action to preserve ecosystems, wilderness and protected areas. Sounds great; but does it work? We think so!
At Canadian Network for Environmental Education and Communication (EECOM) conference in 2004, CBC Prince Edward Island interviewed several folks involved in EE (including our Director of School Programs, Kim Kiel) to discuss why we do what we do. It’s a terrific overview of EE and demonstrates some of the benefits.
