Grizzly Bears Forever Program
Junior High School Visits (Grades 7-9)
Senior High School Visits (Grades 10-12)
Grizzly Bears Forever! is a science-based program that helps Junior and Senior High School students understand the challenges that grizzly bears face in the Central Rockies ecosystem. Through the grizzly bear, topics such as bio-diversity, population, genetics, human impact and species interactions are examined. CPAWS bear educators visit classrooms with a curriculum-linked bag of tricks that includes games, slides, trivia, skulls and scat. Classes have the chance to be part of CPAWS’ premier Action Challenge program to engage them in learning more about bears, science, and stewardship. Our programs are integrated with your curriculum and will help students understand their role in conserving the natural world.
The junior high program consists of two visits to the classroom. The senior high program is typically a single visit which includes critical thinking exercises, and covers more advanced vocabulary and scientific principals. During the program, your students will be encouraged to think about their Ecological Footprint and how their lifestyles affect grizzly bears, ecosystems and nature in general.
With either of these programs, teachers will receive either a junior high or senior high teaching kit that includes an illustrated activity guide, brochures, and posters to extend the experience in the classroom.
School programs cost $50 (Cdn) per visit per class (plus GST).
Assembly presentations cost $200 (Cdn) (plus GST).
