Meet the Education Team

Anne-Marie Syslak – Acting Director of Education

Anne-Marie Syslak

Anne-Marie Syslak, our Acting Director of Education, joined the Education Team in the summer of 2004. Anne-Marie has a B.Sc, a B.Ed, and a M.Sc. in Environmental Education. She has worked in the environmental education field for the past twelve years and enjoys teaching about nature and ecological issues through her creative lessons.
Anne-Marie loves to travel, flirts with art and music, and is often found playing in the mountains. Originally from the prairies, Anne-Marie has a particular passion for plants and wildflowers. When she’s not howling like a wolf with her daughter, you might find her on the trail going ga-ga over a glacier-lily!

Kim Jaxa-Debicki – School Programs Coordinator

Kim Jaxa-Debicki

Kim is the most recent addition to the CPAWS education team. She comes to us from Ontario where she has worked for eight seasons as an interpretive naturalist, educator, and researcher. Kim has a B.Sc. in Environmental Science (ecology and geography) and a B.Ed. in Outdoor and Experiential Education. She has a particular passion for the commonly feared and misunderstood, which perhaps explains her fascination with snakes (or any herpetofauna). She loves to breakdown myths, stereotypes and fears of the natural world through information sharing and positive hands on experiences with nature. You are most likely to find her hanging out in the sunshine, hiking with her camera, paddling in a wetland, traveling the world or just eating good food and listening to good music with friends … and of course trying to educate others about nature!
