School Programs

Since 1997, CPAWS Educators have been visiting schools throughout southern Alberta to deliver educational programs on environmental themes. We have developed a reputation for producing excellent science education programs that link specifically to Alberta Learning curricula.
Our programs are engaging, interactive, and enjoyable, as demonstrated by our extensive program evaluation. Over the years, our classroom programs have evolved from delivering a single classroom visit to delivering multi-visits to the same class throughout the year. We believe that this sustained messaging enhances students’ comprehension of scientific principles. Moreover, we are better able to encourage and mentor youth to take positive stewardship action.

Standard of Excellence

We currently offer programming on endangered species, grizzly bears, and environmental stewardship. We also offer teaching kits as supplemental resources for educators. In addition to classroom programming, we offer full-day educational hikes and field studies in Kananaskis Country and Fish Creek Provincial Park. Students safely explore wilderness areas with highly-trained interpretive guides, allowing them to witness many of the scientific principles they have studied in class.
