Capture the Wild Photography Contest
Rules & Regulation
- Submit as many entries as you wish in any of the seven categories. An image can only win once. The maximum number of winning entries per photographer is two. Entry fee is $5 per image (cheque or cash only).
- Entries must be dropped off by 5:00pm MDT, or mailed postmarked no later than Friday, September 12, 2008 to the CPAWS Office, #1120, 1202 Centre Street SE, Calgary, Alberta, Canada T2G 5A5
- Format to be slides or photographic prints (not to exceed 8 x 12 inches). Colour photocopies and framed images not accepted.
- Digitally altered images will not be accepted in any category. Techniques that are part of the chemical processing procedure, such as colour balance, brightness, contrast, cropping and removing dust are acceptable in all categories.
- Entrant's name, address and phone number must be on each image, as well as a caption or identification of each photo. Please use the entry form in the brochure, or click here to download an entry form. (Acrobat [PDF] format, ~10K)
- Winning entrants will be notified within three weeks of contest closure. Winners that have submitted prints will be required to provide a negative(s) or original JPEG or TIFF files to CPAWS no later than September 30, 2007. Enlargements will be produced for the Wild Gala silent auction.
- CPAWS will retain partial use of entries and reserves the right to publish all photographs and/or use them in any type of promotion or sponsor advertising including newsletters, displays, website or promotional materials without compensation to the photographer. Model and property releases are the responsibility of the entrant and should be available for identifiable people upon submission.
- Contest is open to everyone except individuals that have been directly involved in the planning of this event.
- Judges reserve the right to transfer entries to a different category.
- Entries will be judged on the basis of creativity, photographic quality, marketability, how the image expresses the theme of the category and how the image expresses the overall theme of wilderness. Decisions of the judges are final.
- If you want your image returned, you must include a self-addressed stamped envelope with sufficient Canadian postage (stamps only). We cannot return submissions accompanied by US or other foreign postage.
- Please package your photos securely, as CPAWS cannot accept responsibility for loss or damage.
